I'm out Hunting for a new notebook and have trimmed down my choices to one of the two

Sorry to add ... The cost of Acer is 1049$ -- Is 5580 worth the money spend?

Judging by the specs and cost, why would you even consider the Acer 5580? I would suggest you to go for another model in the Toshiba range.

That's coz Toshiba's actual price is 900$ - I'm getting it fo a discount

That's a significant price difference (which I assume is because you're comparing a 1st generation Core Duo with a 2nd generation), so it's kind of a difficult comparison.

What exactly are you going to be doing with this machine? And how long do you expect it to remain viable?
