I have a year left on my passport and I am thinking of renewing the same. I have a few questions regarding the same.

(1) Can I renew my passport a year in advance.
(2) I have a B1 valid till 2006. Will I lose the visa if I renew my passport. Or is there a way of transferring this to my renewed passport.
(3) How much time does it take for renewal.

The B1 visa will be valid for the new passport. carry your old passport when you travel. They wont transfer the visa to a new passport.

Go to your nearest indian embassy and renew your PP, you should get it on the same day if I'm correct.
As said by pradeep no need for new visa, you can staple it together and always carry both PP.
