I am in a group doing a project, and we have split up the responsibilities of course. One of our members has little experience, so we are helping her through some of it. We need to add a map to our website, and then place different devices on that map as well as channels going between the devices. We will have an API that is used to call on these different devices and channels by deviceID and channelID (essentially).

She has been looking into it I believe, but is not making huge progress with it. I would just like to know how to tell her to start, as in what to search for or what to read to figure this part out. I would do it but I have plenty of other things I am in charge of (I need to do 13 ui mock ups just tonight). So far she has told us that to put a map from google on our site we have to get a key. We don't have a server yet other than our local host, so this is difficult to test apparently until we actually have the url for our site (she says when obtaining a key you must put in your website url).

This also does not even begin to answer the question of how we will be placing these devices and channels on the map. I'm sure one of the attributes for devices will be latitude and longitude, so I am assuming that will be used to do this, but I really don't know how. Nor do I have the time to research it for her. So can anyone give me some tips on what to tell her, or any other resources?
