I've been told that here in Seattle it typically snows once every five years. So far this year it has snowed something like six times. And there have been several snow days (days without school for my son).

Plus! There has been one day where the schools have been closed because we had this super wind storm that knocked the power out for most of the region!

We haven't had flake one; by this time, we've normally been buried. In other years, we've had snow weeks, let alone days. Once my wife's and my cars were both stuck in our garage for four days due to an incredible pile of snow and some very ill-considered plowing.

I've been wondering if they'll let out school early for the year, as the calendar normally has X snow days built-in.

I don't know about that; up here in Vancouver we seem to get snow about once a year on average (but I Am Not A Weatherman), and we're close enough to Seattle that we have pretty much the same weather. Sure, this year we have had a lot of snow and wind but it hasn't stopped me from being on time for work every day. And I still remember the spring of 1999 when the snow in the city was nearly waist deep and the snow on Mount Baker set an all-time record for depth of snow in a single year.

Over here in the UK the average night time low is 1 degree, but at the moment it is about 12 degrees. It is strangely warm. I haven't put on a jumper or scarf at all yet when going out this winter. Overall 2006 was the warmest year on record, and that's going back about three hundred years. Very odd.
