Hello all,

I need to contribute to the jboss log4j configuration file with some custom appenders for my application but I would like not to modify jboss-log4j.xml.

I know I can override the jboss-log4j.xml location using the Java property log4j.configuration but I would rather prefer to use the default one plus my appenders rather then modify the default configuration or completely override it with my custom one.

Basically I would like to keep the default jboss-log4j.xml and still have my custom appenders defined in another file.

Is it possible?

Thanks,
Giovanni

Not that I know of. You could use XML's built-in include mechanisms using the !ENTITY tag. Then you would have to make only to changes to the jboss-log4j.xml file - one to declare the !ENTITY and the other to include it. Such a change should be easy to port to never versions of JBoss AS.

Hello Peter,

thank you for your email. I was hoping there was another alternative :-(

I will go for the ENTITY solution.

Thanks again.
