So I have been experiencing some problems will doing things on the internet that require a fairly constant connection where randomly every few minutes my connection will drop and then reconnect (generally) in a few moments. It's incredibly annoying. So I did a ping -t on to google.com which came back at about 20ms. Every 15-25 requests however the request will timeout or take 2500ms+. It's like clockwork. Every 15-25 requests. Any ideas?

Edit: I have posted this question at link as well.

Hi Paul,

for how long are you experiencing these problems? Did it ever work without trouble? Just two days ago my sister had such problems with her computer and i figured out the cause was just a bad ethernet cable... Just a guess but at least this would be easy to test Of course there are many more things which could be wrong but it's hard to tell without having more details.

Well, originally I was disconnecting a lot so I took the amplifier off the primary line and put a bidirectional coupling on it and move the amplifier to the out line and put the modem on the tap line so basically it's a direct shot to the modem from the primary line and the amp goes to the 8 way splitter for T.Vs. This brought the SnR from 15 to 40+ but now I'm having the above problems.

All the computers on the network connect wirelessly and all of them ping the same way. Every 15-25 pings a request times out or takes forever. I bought a new modem and new router at the start of the networking problems and used its ethernet cable to go from the modem to the router.

Try running http://www.wireshark.org/ and see if it shows anything

Okay, thanks. I have it downloaded. Any ideas for how I should use it to test and what I will be looking for?

you can run it Capture/Options Start and it will let you see what is happening and you might get a better clue of what might be happening.

Make sure all your ips are unique, you might want to renew (ipconfig /release and than ipconfig /renew) them.
