Guys This might be off the topic. But I really need to know this answer!
I am planning to write a book and I have sent an audition for EJB 3.But I need to know how much I can earn writing a book like that.
I am also preparing plenty of auditions on different topics. But got no idea about the money that I might get.
Can anybody suggest me any estimated one.
Please you can PM me.
I am working hard for the audition.

Regards,
Sachin Verma

Hey Sachin,

That's a tough question, but I'll take a stab at it. To me there are two big variables:

1 - How healthy is EJB?
2 - How good is your book?

I would imagine that based on those two answers you could earn anywhere from $20k to $100k. If you're specifically talking about a Head First EJB book, my guess is that it will take you 1500 hours to write it. So that works out to anywhere from $13 / hour to $65 / hour. Of course you don't get that all up front. Whether you end up making $20k or $100k a lot of the total will come in over a few years.

Of course the other perspective is that many authors find that there are a lot of benefits to having written a book - so you have to factor that into your equation too.

hth,

Bert

You can also have a look at the POD (Print On Demand) option, but be aware of the Pros and Cons. I am so far happy with the POD. As Bert alluded to, writing a book is a hard work. I might have spent over 2000 hours. It was a good learning experience and worth trying. Good luck.
