Hi,

My apologies for my english.

I want to pass SCEA certification this year. I am worry about SCEA future with Oracle. So I would pass it as soon as possible...

If I pass the part 1 in June, when will I receive Part 2 instructions?
When part 2 is submitted, the part 3 can be passed or a delay is necessary?

Thanks for help.

After you pass part 1, you can start part 2 right away.
After you submit part 2, you can write part 3 as soon as you're ready.

In short, no delay is necessary.

Hope this helps.

Yes, you will be able to start pretty much immediately.

Don't worry about the merger between Sun and Oracle with regards to certification. SCEA will remain the most coveted Java certification, regardless of whether it is an OCEA or a SCEA. Once you start, you'll be allowed to take the second parts without a problem. They'd never just pull the rug out and say 'sorry, we don't do that anymore.' They'll support the second and third parts so long as you've written the first.

Good luck!

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.

I am not so optimistic. I took a look at BEA certification (Oracle Bea certification). For instance, "BEA SOA Enterprise Architecture " (2 steps exam) moved to "Oracle SOA Architect Certified Expert " (1 step exam). There was no "sorry, we don't do that anymore", but BEA's phase 1 exam became useless.

That is why I am a bit worry....

I purchased Part 2 as soon as I cleared Part 1. I'm still waiting for the instructions to download the assignment but I'm expecting to have within the next 24 hours.

I understand your concern about SCEA being discontinued. As far as your example with BEA I believe SCEA carries much more weight and popularity than BEA. I just cannot imagine Oracle chopping SCEA right in the middle.

In fact, SCEA is the easiest to acquire software architect/architecture certification compare to certifications from other vendors like SEI, CMU, Microsoft, The Open Group.

I wouldn't surprise, if Oracle will make some changes in SCEA in the future.

I've been wondering if that might be the case. Can you share your thoughts on this a bit more?

Take a look at process of becoming certified of other certification programs, you might get an idea.
