When using
<jsp:setProperty name="person" property="*" />
inside the jsp:useBean tag,if there are some request params which donot have corresponding matching bean properties then what happens to those request params?
What do they get initialised to?

Well , nothing happens to request params , it is just there to be used else where (of course with in the same request scope).

What do they get initialised to?

What do "they" refer here ?

As mentioned above those request parameters are to be used for the values of the properties of the bean.
