Passed SCJP with 86%

Whew java fellow in javaranch, i passed SCJP 6.0 with 86% (62 correct from 72), with the following

Declaration 91%
Flow Control 81%
API content 90%
Concurrency 87%
OO Concepts 90%
Collections/Generics 100%
Fundamentals 63%

Well, not bad for 5 weeks of hard work.

My problem lies in Fundamental which scored only 63%. I really got shocked when i found this section only scored this low, because
usually in Devaka Exam Lab, the Fundamental is the highest score, in the final Exam Lab i get 88%. And the Collection
section get 100% while in Devaka's Exam Lab it's only 54%. Is the Fundamentals area is the triciest part??. I thought i can score above 90%,
because on the final Exam Lab i managed to get 69%. Is SCWCD divided in this sections too?? is SCWCD have the same trickiness as SCJP??

Thanks to Javaranch admins, this forum is a great help for self study material. And to rancher that has been answer my question.
Thanks to Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates for your book. It's really rock. I started my study with this book a couple weeks ago. Did you guys wrote a book for SCWCD
Thanks to Devaka Cooray for The Exam Lab 6.0, It's really hard and challenging. Do you plan on to create for the SCWCD version. I'll be your number one customer.

And my next Sun certification is SCWCD. Do any rancher know what is the great book to begin with? Ah, yes, before that I also
need to prepare my TOEFL so that i can continue my class. Do rancher know any "ranch" that is as great as this ranch for TOEFL prep or link to TOEFL Mock Exam??

HI Eko,

Many many congratulations! Well done!
I hope to give the exam in the next 2 weeks or so, I am
having a tough time preparing right now... please answer some of my questions:

1. Were there many questions on new stuff in SCJP 6 like NavigableSet and Map, Console?
2. I just want to confirm...in the real exam do they tell you how many answers to select, in K&B
mock exam etc it never tells you?
3. Were there many drag and drop? Also are there only drag and drop and multiple choice questions, or
are there any other type too?

Also any hints/tips please let us know. Thanks and congrats again.

Mmmm, currently I don't have a plan to make a SCWCD version. It is very hard to manage the time for such a thing, especially for a freeware.

Kind Regards,

Devaka.

To Meghna Bhardwaj
1) Not really, but there's some of them.
2)Yes they really tell you how much question you should choose
3)yes, Dnd and multiple choice. In fact multiple choice is easier because the number of slot you have to fill matches with the options given
4)Do ExamLab by Devaka Cooray. It's the best Mock exam.

Try for "Head First Servlets and JSP 2nd Edition - Passing the Sun Certified Web Component Developer Exam" (O'Reilly) written by Bryan Basham, Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates

And good luck for your new challenge!!
