What about this one: Transcend T.sonic 610 MP3 Player. It can play MP3, WMA, WAV. It has FM. It has a voice recorder. It has 2 GB of space. Only $60 (Seems like Rs.2600 in Indian market). Why iPod? What's lacking? What's good? Anyone used both iPod and this one?

There are a lot of these MP3 players which are so cool and cheap too. I recently bought my niece a Hyundai MP3 player(yes, from Hyundai corp which manufactures the world famous cars!). Of course when we start comparing with iPod or Creative there may a lot of things which dont measure upto an iPod like sound clarity, menu maneuverability, better battery life etc.

Do your homework and settle for what you seem fit. Some reviews about the T.sonic can be found here. There's also the new 1 GB Zen Stone which retails at about $40. But it has no screen!

I own this cute little thing today. It's a good MP3 player but I'm a little disappointed with the Sound Quality. I don't know how an iPod sounds but this one's not too great. But it's a great value for money. It can also be used as a Pen drive (it has 2 GB of space) but it takes about 40 minutes to store 2GB of data into it, in that sense it's pretty slow. The battery life is cool, roughly 12 hours per full-charge.

I'll keep using this till I buy an iPod nano when I get my next promotion

Congrats Man!
I was toying with iPod/Creative/iRiver for a long time. But I also needed a mobile phone. I finally settled for SE W810i. I am quite happy about my decision. The 810i has everything to offer!
