I have created a mail program with user interface for outgoing mail only. I only had to use the SMTP host name of my ISP in order to send mail.
I am not very familiar with SMTP mail servers, so I was wondering whether someone using my program with a different ISP
may need to use a password and username for OUTGOING mail only.

Thanks

Depends on the ISP. Some require a login, some (well, most I know) just require a connection directly to their network, i.e. you can't access the mailserver if you're not one of their clients.

Ok Thanks Rob. I will have a username and password JTextField available in the user interface for those who may need to login with their own personal data.
Thanks again for your reply.
