I think so, especially the first two sections. If you have an interest in scalable systems, then pipelines is not too hard to learn (especially when considering other low-level options like writing your own multi-threaded code). The examples are a bit more advanced, but if you understand the basic concepts and are comfortable with Java, you should be able to run them and develop new services in a similar manner.

I will be very interested in feedback on how you find the concepts, and suggestions on what we can do to make it more broadly applicable.
