How many hours do you sleep every day?

I find 8 hours is not enough for me. I feel exhausted when comes to Thursday. It takes me 3 hours on the subway every day.

I had read in some health related magazine that humans need rest of about 1/3 of a day that comes to 8 hours ( cant guess how do they come to this conclusion )but still I too find it less considering the stress in office and the travelling time ( for me about 2 hours) considered . I think ideal time of sleep( or rest you may call it ) must be somewhere around 10 hours ..... what do others think???

I dont know...sometimes even 6 hours of sleep is good enough for me and other times, 8 hours is too less. 15 hours of sleep is the one I love, after a tiring 8 hours of playing cricket.

I typically get 5-7 hours a night which is plenty for me.

Yeah, I get around 6-7 hours sleep, but I've been finding it insufficient lately... but one thing, I dont think its the number of hours you sleep, its the ability to get deep sleep even if you sleep for a short time. My sleep has been distracted, full of dreams and waking up a few times every night and so Ive been waking up tired...Need to try something to improve sleep quality. I've always envied the people who can sleep like 3-5 hours and still function normally, so much to do, so little time!

7.5 at night. Less "every day". Depends on who's watching at work.

Sleep is a luxury enjoyed by people without puppies in training.

sometimes just 5-6 hours of sound sleep(making sound when I sleep ) is good for me. If I get dreams I need 10hours. But if I sleep more than 10 hours again I feel tired

I get almost no sleep during the day. My sleep comes at night.

9-10 hours. More on weekends.

6-7 hours. Recently, I tend to wake up earlier in order to have plenty of time to do things.

Weekdays: 7 - 8 hours.
Weekend: > 12 hours.

10 hours is kinda ideal. More on week ends. I can even do away with four hours of sleep every now and then but I need a lot of sleep in general.

WIth an average of 12 hrs spend in office and 3 hrs in travelling I could only manage 6 hrs a day for sleep.

I always try to get 8 hours of sleep but I don't remember hitting that number for a long time now......I think I can only manage 6-7 hours of sleep at night......n sleeping during the day is a strict no-no for me.

Six and half hours. At times less. I must sleep more, but can't - I don't feel too well if I have lie in. Lack of sleep is probably one of the reasons for my weight!

Experts, writing in the journal Sleep, also say that lack of sleep probably affects hormones which help burn off calories during the day.

I sleep atleast 10 hours a day .

I think its not how long we sleep but the quality of our sleep. Old folks tends to have a shorter sleep.

I plan to get 8-9, but then I end up reading for ages and only getting 6-7. I find that 6 is enough to get by on during the week as long as I can catch up a bit during the weekend. I just about never get more then 9.

Minimum 8hrs. Less than that and I am not upto level best!

When he was competing in professional tennis, Bjorn Borg got 10 hours of sleep each night.

I suspect the amount of sleep a person needs depends upon the efficiency of his sleep. People with sleep apnea may need an inordinate amount of sleep because they cannot sustain deep sleep. In deep sleep their throat muscles soften -- at first causing snoring but ultimately collapsing to the point that they stop breathing until the lack of oxygen forces them to almost wake up.

However, I think sleep apnea is not a binary condition (e.g. either you have it or you don't), but rather a continuum in which most people have the tendency to some degree. The more you have it, the more sleep you need.

It would seem that no sleep apnea whatsoever is best, because those people have the best health, and the most spare time and energy. But then why do we have so many people who snore, and so many people who have to sleep more? Perhaps a few people who could not sustain deep sleep were good to have around, because people in light sleep are more likely to be awoken by the movements of predators and other nighttime attackers.

5 hours on the way
9 hours work+lunch
2 hours do and have breakfast and supper
So only 8 hours I can close my eyes.
six and half in the summer
seven in the winter
It is good for your health of early day and night!

I'd like to get between 8-9 hours, but I usually get between 5-7 hours during the week and then I have to "catch up" during the weekend (if my schedule permits!).

With to many 5h's days my performance decreases at the end of the week.
