Yes, the UML was removed from Part I exam in SCEA 5 to give way to other more important topics with the reasoning that UML knowledge will also be tested heavily in the Assignment part.
But to be on the safe side, know the basics. It will also greatly benefit you when you begin with Part II.
Indeed, the multiple choice questions won't have any diagrams. Of course, many of the concepts expressed by UML diagrams, such as inheritance and aggregation are all fair game. There may not be any diagrams, but the concepts are definitely in the questions.
