This is an object that is intended to change the color of a UI object.
Can anyone guess why the following code is giving errors?

How would I implement it as part of a program that "listens for (user-generated) events such as mouse clicks and button clicks?

That sort of thing is usually discussed on our Swing forum. Moving.

Please tell us more details, including the sort of "error" you are experiencing.

Do you get a compilation error regarding "buttonPanel"?

Jon, you have started quote a lot of threads about the same program. Two that stand out to me are this one and this one, because a lot of the code is the same.

Don't you think it's a good idea to read some tutorials first (if you haven't already)? The Swing tutorial can be found here.
