If Saugus is anything like it was when I was growing up in Massachussetts, definitely a slur.

You could also use the August (month) v august (venerable) link and use the same word to rhyme

Thanks cowboys, but all them rhymes above ain't no good. The stress must be on the first syllable. Well, maybe Saugus-ed qualifies, whatever the **** that is.

All the answers are imperfect, it seems. If the accent bothers you, we can shift the imperfection somewhere it may be more acceptable. How about:

longest
strongest
wrongest

And I'd note that EFH'S Saugus-ed does rhyme pretty exactly. It's just hard to find people who would recognize it as a word. Move northeast.

Have you considered simply modifying the lyrics of your song/poem to make it easier? If we assume that August is selected as an arbitrary month - so with 'September' instead and then you can have 'Remember' as a rhyme!

Example: "explain" rhymes with "champagne" and "obtain", but not with "fountain" and "chaplain".

I was in limbo, would that indeed explain
Why Lucifer and Jesus drank champagne?

I propose an amendment to the MD rules: gender, religious, and political commentaries are once again OK, as long as they are rhymed.

[deleted]

That should be a lot of fun.

August, another bites the dust. But it must be copyrighted, and it's meaningless

That should be a lot of fun.

To rhyme any two words doesn't mean to match as many letters as possible, but to make the two words sound as close as possible. For example, "originally" and "marginally" do not rhyme, but "enough" and "stuff" do.

The words "crust", "thrust", "fussed", "adjust", and disgust" do not rhyme with "August". The closest matches so far are "longest" and "locust", if we throw away "Saugus-ed".

Presumably you don't have to rhyme it with a single word?
Two words: awe, gist (do you pronounce it gist or gust? - I pronounce it as something similar to awe-gissed.

Words rhyming with awe: more, pour, poor, sore
Words rhyming with "gissed": kissed, mist, list

Compile all those who can rhyme August
surely it would be a poor list
