What kind of tracks do you listen to whilst making code.
Also what is pink noise and why ohhh why do I need a Mac OSX for it . Can anyone tell me what is sounds like, if you have it...does it do as advertised?

See Wikipedia - Pink Noise. (This article includes an audio sample that supposedly uses Java to play in a browser. But I'm at work using a ridiculous Windows machine, and MS IE can't seem to deal with it. )

I find it doesn't matter after the first few minutes. Get in the zone and tune it all out. But the music does help shut out office distractions.

After reading the wikipedia article, Ive come to the conclusion that Pink noise is like white noise only a little gayer. . ohhh.. I kill myself..No offense to anyone. But getting back to what kind of tracks. I like Mozart, Vivaldi and some Beethoven. I'm also experimenting with movie soundtracks. You have to keep it all at a ridiculously low volume though so you can just barely hear it.
It seems that there are theories about how sound waves of particular types of music can help in the concentration process and arguments against it as well.

Some days Mozart, some days Bach. Today it is Eric Clapton.

Pink noise is used for pinking out a room. Seriously.

If i remember right, white noise has even power at all frequencies. Therefore, in the octave between 2000hz and 4000hz, there is twice as much power as between the 1000hz and 2000hz octave.

Pink noise puts out less power at higher frequencies, so that the total power for any octave is the same.

It's most often used when setting up a sound system for a concert or such. Pink noise it pumped through, and a spectrum analyzer can detect at what frequency feedback it about to occur. The sound technician can then use a graphic equalizer to pull down that frequency, thus letting the system be louder before getting feedback.

It's been about 25 years since I've done any of that, so i may have some of the details wrong.
