I would appreciate somebody answering this question for me. I searched the Sun Site (and googled much) - cant get a definitive answer:

I plan to give the SCWCD test in a couple of months. I understand you need to be Sun certified Java developer in order to qualify for giving the test.

I completed the "Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform" about 8 years ago (2001), do I need to recertify (upgrade etc), or am I good? Dont want to sink months of preparation to be told you dont qualify .

Thanks in advance for your collective wisdom.

You must have SCJP if you want to take SCWCD exam. You don't need to be Sun Java Certfified Developer (SCJD). It doesn't matter which SCJP you took (1.2, 1.3, 1.4 and so on), you don't need to do any upgrade.

"junker munker",
Welcome to the ranch. You may not be aware of the ranch Naming Policy. Please read it carefully and change your name accordingly (obviously fake names are not allowed). Thank you.
