Does anybody use it?

Yesterday my Filipino friend boiled three cans of "Young Green Jackfruit (in brine)" with three cans of coconut milk and a package of mussels (plus some chopped garlic, onion and ginger) for about an hour, and damn thing tasted so good!

This "jackfruit" tastes kinda like potato, but juicier. Never heard about it before.

Jackfruit is very common and quite a cheap fruit in India.
Its basically found in Eastern region of India.
People allergic to sticky things are not suppose to take it.

EFH: Broiled? or Boiled?

Dammit, now I know the difference. I edited my post to eliminate confusion.

Akhilesh: and I thought it smells like mango

Well, the one I tried tasted more like potato

Jack fruit can be used raw in the recipes similar to the one Map mentioned, and ripe jack fruit is a very delicious fruit (In Chetan's image)!! Yum, yum!!!

It is very much available in Western India as well - and Konkan (coastal region in western India) specializes in various recipes of Jack fruit.

It is surprising sometimes things which I find very common can be unique to other person.

Jackfruit chips are quite popular in Western Maharashtra(India).

Jackfruit Sweet Bar:

jackfruit Papad

Jackfruit Flakes:

Jackfruit Cake:

I like chips followed by cake.

With a little knowledge, a cast iron skillet is non-stick and lasts a lifetime.
