Personally, I'm afraid of numbers that can't be written as fractions.

That sounds irrational to me, too. But with the aid of meditation when the fear comes on, it could become... transcendental!

How do you feel about π/2?

ok, so your over-analyzing the joke, which i guess i should have expected from a bunch of computer geeks.

I just thought the joke would be lost if i said

"I'm afraid of numbers that can't be written as fractions m/n where m and n are both integers, and n != 0"

Sure, but then there'd be nothing for us to discuss.

Well, zero factorial is defined to be one. So in order for n! to be 0... Uh...

After I lock my house and go away .I always have something running in my brain saying that I haven't locked the door properly.

I have to check my zipper every 5 minutes or so to ensure it really IS zipped.

I always make it a point that the blanket is covering my two feet when I sleep at night because of the fear that somebody might grab it.

re: locking doors. When going to bed, I check the lock and say "it's locked on [Monday|Tuesday|etc]" out loud so that I remember later when I'm in bed and dozing off

re: 2 feet under sheets. That's not irrational ;-P There's no way my feet are sticking out

My main fear is of losing my sight. (really)

My main habit is writing out the letters "O", "C", and "D" exactly 100 times after I shower. I would do it "e x 100" times but I'm scared of irrational numbers too.

the last one was a joke, in the vein of Stephen Wright
