Dear Rancher,
I don't know if any books for SCEA J2EE 5. I saw some books for old version of J2EE like This link
I think the version of J2EE 5 is different than the old version of J2EE 1.4.

Anyone he knows the new book for J2EE 5, or any planing to publish study guide for J2EE 5.

I plan to start reading for this exam.

Hi,

I think that no exists a specific book for this exam... you must study by varios books and articles.

You can use the older book (for 310-051 exam) to get the principles of architecture, but you must study the new technologies such as EJB 3, WebServices, Sun J2EE Design Patterns and so on in another fonts.

I think the point here is that if you wait around for books you're always going to be behind the curve to some extent. In many ways not having an exam guide will serve you better, as sooner or later you're going to have to carry out your own research in order to make your own decisions.

That said, the book I'd most like to see updated is Core J2EE Patterns as there seems to be an unwillingness on Sun's behalf to provide architectural-level documentation for EE5. Take the Pet Store Blueprint as an example - it came out in August 2007, but when you go to the architecture document page it still says "Coming soon"! And Designing Enterprise Applications with the J2EE Platform, Second Edition, published back in 2002, is woefully out of date.

I found another SCEA 5 notes on the internet: http://scea.djcheng.com. Could be useful.

Can a moderator put the guides from this topic to the list of SCEA Links?

There is only one book for SCEA-5 by Mark Cade & Humphry Sheil, listed at InformIT and Amazon. Its a sleek guide and may not be sufficient in itself to pass the exams, but would be a good place to start and to know what you need to study and prepare.

Let me add my two pence: memorize (even if you may not agree) and prepare to throw up Sun's JavaEE tutorial (available free on the net).
