I have invested in some MFs via SIP and am running a decent profit on those. Considering the sensex is probably nearing its peak, should I sell and book the profits or should I remain invested?

Stay invested unless you need that money. Bull cycle still looks intact. For every 700-1000 points fall in sensex, you can think of putting more money in market (other than your regular investment) to maximize returns.

No it is not ! Though there has been a correction over last few trading sessions , markets will peak out sometime during december-jan and you'll be surprised to see the Sensex level then. That would be a good time for booking profits and wait for a crash to re-invest.

Never be afraid of selling and taking good profits.

But market timing is a game for suckers.

[SIP == Systematic Investment Plan]

What is nice about such a purchase plan is that it does not care about the bull and bear cycles the market goes through (so long as the trend is generally upward from a long term perspective). When the market goes up, your portfolio's value increases. If it goes down, your next purchase installment turns up buying more units of the fund.

Unless you need the money, there is no (other) reason to redeem units of your mutual fund.

just my opinion,
- Anand
