I think YUM is included with RHEL 4. Although maybe not until RHEL 5. I highly recommend it, since it will also chase down, download, and install any sub-dependencies as well.
If yum isn't in your basic RPM set, check one of the extension collections such as EPEL.
The secret of how to be miserable is to constantly expect things are going to happen the way that they are "supposed" to happen.
You can have faith, which carries the understanding that you may be disappointed. Then there's being a willfully-blind idiot, which virtually guarantees it.
