We're not exactly sharing. I own my name. The other 44 use it under license.

[Bear]: According to that site, even I don't exist.

I always figured you were probably just an urban legend.

Same here. I also tried a couple of other relatives with my last name and they don't exist either.

# There are 0 people in the U.S. named Jeanne Boyarsky.
While both names you entered were found in our database, neither was common enough to make it likely that someone in the U.S. has that name.

Sounds like they are using statistical probability rather than actually searching some sort of public record.

The FAQ also states that 1 in 10 people will have a first name not listed. Same for last name. We seem to be quite a bit higher in this thread

While we're on the subject, why don't we ever hear of any suburban legends? What about all the rural legends? Why the city-centric bias?

Not a big surprise:

Bear, Usenet. Usenet, Bear.

(I think alt.folklore.suburban started as some in-joke spin-off of alt.folklore.urban, possibly also having to do with poking fun at Usenet group naming conventions. Then it was some moderated version. Now it seems full of spam. This is all vague recollections. I had a brief fascination with alt.folklore.urban about ten years ago (lurked but didn't post).)

Apparently there are 117 Ryan McGuires in this great land of ours.

There's also 2 people with the same name as my Second Life avatar.

I'm surprised the number is that large (and it doesn't include me).
