I can play chess but I don't play chess. But I do remember Bobby Fischer. Partly for his chess, but more for his run-ins with the Worldwide Church of God in the 1970's. They had their world headquarters just down the road from where I was attending university at the time.

I used to love chess. When Fischer was playing Spasski in 1972 I was riveted

I discovered Go about 25 years ago and haven't looked back

I knew it was only a matter of time before Bert would slip in a mention about Go.

Fischer, a true legend, a sad loss for the world and for the chess-community in particular. A man of controversy for sure, but surely one of the greatest chess players of all time.

I guess we all saw he was ill lately, but could never have imagined it was this bad. Rest in peace Bobby.

Chess is a great game, it helps prepare you for Go

I wish Fischer had played Go!

At least one other great chess player appreciated Go...

. . . [it is] something unearthly . . . If there are sentient beings on other planets, then they play Go.
- Emanuel Lasker, chess grandmaster

But more to the point, we'll miss you Bobby!

An interesting observation in the Wikipedia article on Bobby Fischer...

Fischer lived 64 years, the same number as squares on a chess board.

Yes, sadly he had no more free squares to move to.

I also love chess very much. Infact during my childhood days i have played continuously for a whole day without having any "break".

Sorry to hear about it. Obviously there were no free squares from him to move around

Let his soul rest in peace!

Blood pressure normal? What do I change to get "magnificent"? Maybe this tiny ad?
