I can play chess but I don't play chess. But I do remember Bobby Fischer. Partly for his chess, but more for his run-ins with the Worldwide Church of God in the 1970's. They had their world headquarters just down the road from where I was attending university at the time.
Fischer, a true legend, a sad loss for the world and for the chess-community in particular. A man of controversy for sure, but surely one of the greatest chess players of all time.
I guess we all saw he was ill lately, but could never have imagined it was this bad. Rest in peace Bobby.
