I have always used javaranch for all my preparations but only today I felt the need to post this message - for all those aspiring to complete SCDJWS5.

I gave my exam on June 30th and passed with 66%. I had set only 2 weeks for preparation as my voucher was expiring on the very same day of my exam. The exam was bit tough when compared to my previous certifications (SCWCD 5, SCBCD 5 etc)

Usually those exams have around 10 questions which say "select 2, select 3" correct answers. But in this exam more than half of the questions were of that type. It was easy to select 2 options but selecting the third option was always tough, given the thought that a wrong choice could ruin the whole one.

As others said there were no questions on WSDL 2.0, no drag-drop kind of questions.

And finally a great thanks to Ivan Krizsan whose notes helped me succeed this exam in a short span of time. His notes was the only source which I studied and nothing else.

Thanks,
Karthik

Hi!
Congratulations!
However, I do not really recommend using ONLY my notes in preparing for the exam. In your case, it is too late, though. :-)
The span of SCDJWS is very large and even though I've written about 400 pages, I feel I only touch the surface.
Best wishes!

Congrats Buddy...

agreed to Ivan, Web Serices is something more than certifying. Covering even more than 2000 pages also wont pay regards to Web Service Glory.
I prepared for web services (ver. 4) for over and about 10months. and got 84%.
frankly telling web service is the most typical study area of j2ee, and requires a deep understanding of the concepts.

Even now a days also when i am studying SOA, i will have to refer the older books like RMH, and these notes.

Anyways....

Study Hard to earn Hard

Ivan Krizsan, please share links to your notes.

I could not find it in SCDJWS links section of JavaRanch Forums for SCDJWS.

Thank you for your help!

Thanks! Frankly, I didnt have the time to study more. Usually I take more than 2 months for a certification but this time I had to take the exam before my voucher expiry date. I spent more than 6 hours a day.
I had worked on a project on webservice before taking the exam. It didn't make much difference to me, anyways.

Hi Karthik,

Congrats to you for this achievement and please help me in joining your league

I am studying in bits and pieces for this exam since past 1.5 months but still dont know where i am heading to because there seems to be a vast amount of things to study and that too without any specific guidelines as what to skim and what not.
I have gone through the RMH book and read all the chapters (even JAX-RPC which is not a part of 1.5 ). I am trying to study JAX-WS from the JAX-WS spec but its too obscure for me to understand. There are security and other stuffs also like JSON etc along with numerous code snippets to learn(esp those in JAXR are nightmares ).

Please help in deciding which areas to skim and which to study properly w.r.t clearing the exam.Should i focus on all the code snippets and expect some questions to come from these or should i focus more on getting a overall perspective and leave the minute details which are quite cumbersome to understand. I am really feel pathetic on myself when i read code snippets in JAXR chapter from RMH because its just too heavy for me with its T-Model and all.
