Hi Yucca,

Great score! With such a score from all that waiting disappears immediately and makes room for and

And don't forget to add the per-section scores if you post your recommendations, approach of the assignment,...

Kind regards,
Roel

Without giving too much away I felt I would share some of things I initially felt most challenging and how I conquered them.

My first challenge was related to the magic cookie. I spent a few hours finding out what it was and what to do with it. For those that are unsure, you can use it to validate the file with as the correct one for the application you are designing and RandomAccessFile API is worth a look.

Synchronization versus logical locking? Due to the scale of the application I felt that logical locking was sufficient but not to say the most correct. Remember that B&S are planning to move to the web and who knows how many clients will attempt to concurrently access records?

RMI was new to me, but java RMI (an oudated book) was still a very good read and probably the only book together with the section in HF Design Patterns on RMI which is a must book for me for almost any developer not familiar with RMI and design patterns. The RMI book cleared up a few questions on the RMI thread reuse and I decided to make thin clients to ensure that our CSR computers can handle the workload of the program. Remember with plans to move to the web, it is more likely that B&D will need or have a good server in place that can allow for thinner clients.

Resource bundles was another new thing to me and I found awesome use for them in a utility method I made that takes in resource bundles, labels and other components and extracts the gui text from the bundle.

I followed coding convention to the core and am the better off for it. I was recently employed in my first java job and required to redo a system with little/no documentationjavascript:emoticon('');

There are many other challenges like the table choice and more but at the end of the day I am not here to tell you what to do other than make the most of the opportunity to prepare yourself for a VERY good chance to say I am proficient in Java.

To all the peeps here and at sun forums thanks for putting up with odd and often late night questions and I am pleased to say I can not wait for SCBCD. On a side note if your are not familiar with safari books online, this is the only site you will ever need.

Good luck to all...
