Unused voucher beyond expiry date

I made the dreadful error of not reading the date format as mm/dd/yyyy in my voucher and as a result missed my SCJP exam. Now, i'm sure know the answer to this question , but please bear with me cause i want to be sure on this one.. Can i salvage something from this UNUSED scjp voucher(expired) or is it a total waste now?

same case happened with me 2 week before
i bought it from niit chandigarh even i conformed it from prometric center that the date formate was in India standard.
but when i went to wrote exam my voucher enable to registered .
i asked them about date format even they are saying thats its in Indian format
but when i wrote this problem to sun helpline they say its in usa data style.

Strange...I just checked my Sun voucher and it uses dd-MMM-yyyy. If even Sun can't get their date handling correct, what hope is there?

You should check the sales laws that were in effect when you bought your voucher (and all the emails/letters you got very carefully).

If you were told the date was dd/mm/yyyy and all the documentation says it's dd/mm/yyyy (or you have other proof), then that is what should be binding on the retailer (note: not Sun, unless you bought direct) of the voucher as it would form part of the contract of sale.

If Sun says that's wrong and the date is actually mm/dd/yyyy, then I think you have a claim against the retailer (again, not Sun unless you bought direct) for breach of contract. You should try and get a refund, or get them to pay for a new voucher. You may have to negotiate hard, i.e. agree to sit the exam before a specific date.

As I said though, check you local sales laws (or whichever ones were in force); they may offer you different protection or deal with contract formation in a totally different way.

If you paid by credit card, you might even have a claim on the credit card company to the retailer's breach. But once again, check your local laws.

i am asking like this because already one of my voucher expired on 07/08/09 due to miss understanding in date format.

also this is good company you should conforme all pro and cons before online transection

I am also done same mistake of understanding the date of sun vocher. it is written as 07/08/2009.
I thought it is the date 7th Aug 2009. But when i made a call to niit center, they are saying that the voucher is already EXPIRED!!!

whats your full voucher no
there is some sz*** series voucher if you are having that voucher then they will provide new voucher
because something was wrong with that nos and all that series voucher are not registered.

Same here Bro I also have the coupon with 07/08/2009 .
Any thing happen please let us know.I think we can file case in cunsumer court.

It appears that a whole lot of people are suffering with the same problem.
Even mine was supposed to expire on 07/08/09 , which a couple of days ago, i came to know has already expired.
I called up NIIT CP, Delhi, where I came to know about this fact, and he also told me, that I was not the first one with
this kind of problem. I think SUN should definitely do something about this, as so many people cant be fools.
It is the company's fault.

Hey same problem i am facing.
my ...exp date is written as 7/8/2009, they said that is expired.
I am also in touch with NIIT ,lets see what happens...
if NIIT admits mistake then it's ok otherwise.
I will also definately go to consumer court.
i think we all should go to consumer court. if NIIT doesn't admit it's mistake.
