Welcome to JavaRanch.

MP3 is not MIDI. You'll need the JMF (Java Media Framework) library and the JMF MP3 extension; both can be found on java.sun.com.

Alternatively, both JLayer and BasicPlayer (google for them) can play MP3 files.
