Hi All,

I am facing deployment issues when trying to deploy my application in jboss 4.02 on windows 2008 server platform .

Please refer the logs below,

I was able to deploy the application without any hurdle in windows 2003 sever , but I am not able to figure out what is wrong with the procedure
when it came to 2008 sever.

Any light would be much appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,
Srikanth.

Looks like your servlet is trying to exec something. What is it trying to run? I suspect that the problem is security related.

My Servlet is not trying to run anything in the deployment stage.
further I changed the

to

in <jboss_home>\server\App\deploy\jbossweb-tomcat55.sar\conf

after looking at the previos log posted (line 27.)

although I changed this value on a trial basis , I found that application was deployed without any problems.
Although this may be out of context can any body explain What is the function of CGIServlet ?

@peter what kind of security problem are you reffering ?

The CGIServlet is used to run CGI scripts. There most be something within your app's config files that hints of this.

On the security issue - Server 2008 is a little pickier about what it allows to run and thus is more secure. That could cause a CGI script to not be run. Most likely, if you did something similar through the GUI, the UAC would ask you for permission before continuing.

so , are you trying to say that , since 2008 server does not allow any kind of scripts to run without prior permissions given to them, In this case Jboss in not starting as It would be required to set the some root kind of permission to the application that is being deployed in Jboss.

The user is logged with Adminstrative privileges , but that does not seem to suffice.

Thanks
Srikanth Chinta.

In Vista and Server 2008, admin privileges are often not enough. You often have to turn off UAC also. And at time even that is not sufficient.

A tool like System Monitor from sysinternals might help you in debugging this - it can monitor file access. There might even be some file access logging within Windows that you can turn on to determine what the exact error is. Of course, it will help if you knew exactly what CGI scripts your app is trying to run so that you could focus your efforts on monitoring those files.
