JasperReports bands with color

Hi. My requirement is to create HTML report that can have color as the background. When I design a report in iReports I can add a frame / rectangle to the tiltle, make it stretch to band height and give it color. Then I can place any other texts on top of that. For preview it works fine. However when I actually export it to HTML, there is no color. The reason is that HTML exporter is so called "grid exporter" that is very sensitive to element placement. When an element overflows with another only for a little bit, the one that is "below" will not be included in the output. So, as a result, the report title band is white, as the colorful rectangle is not rendered.
Now, it is possible to color stuff like that in HTML, just make use backcolor of the generated table. How can I force that, if at all? I could imagine that this is not possible at all since there can be many different shapes/ For example, if I place an ellipse, it is rendered as a rectangle in HTML. Is there anything I can do about these?
Thanks.

What do you mean by "band style is difficult to use"? As far as I know bands cannot have styles.

Also, it's nothing personal, but what do you have in common with [spam removed]? It is your answer to every post about Jasper.

Regards.
