hello...
well i want to create device drivers using java..
can anyone suggest a guide line?

Welcome to the JavaRanch.
Java is probably a bad choice for writing device drivers. The goal of Java is to be cross-platform, so it lacks the OS-specific features that would make writing device drivers easy.
I'll move this post to one of the General forums to see if anyone else can chime in.

"Device Drivers", assuming that you are using the common definition, are code that is loaded directly into the Operating System... they run in kernal space. Historically, they are done in a low level language like C and/or assembly.

Why would you want to?

What i mean by that is this - Java is a tool, just like a hammer or a saw or a wrench. Sure, I can use a wrench to pound in a nail, but it's probably not the best choice.

Java is probably not the best choice for a device driver.

do you have a compelling reason to use it?
