Looking for some guidelines on how to send sms from my java application. the Kannel - http://www.kannel.org/index.shtml , does not seem to be relevant?Because it's not java compliant. Any other alternatives which i could look into?
Without using the GSM or mobile phone, i should look for some free web services?

See the last entry in the http://faq.javaranch.com/java/JavaIoFaq for some pointers. I very much doubt that you'll find a free service for this.

I was referring to your question of whether you should look for a free service that sends SMS - in my opinion it's unlikely that you'll find such a service. In other words, you'll have to pay money.
