Issues in retrieving results using a Query

Hi

Im trying to retrieve two different values from the same field for a single record using a query. My query is something like this

SELECT U.USERID,L.CODE, U. USERID AS INSTRUCTORID, U.USERNAME AS INSTRUCTORNAME
FROM TRANSC LAT, LEARNINGCOURSE L, USER U, LEARNINGINSTRUCTOR LI
WHERE LAT.ENROLLMENTSTATUS = 'C'
AND LAT.USERID = DU.USERID
AND LAT.LEARNINGACTIVITYID = DL.ID
AND LI.INSTRUCTORID = U.USERID
AND LAT.USERID NOT IN (SELECT U.USERID FROM DRUSER U, DRELECTRONICSIGNATURE ES
WHERE ES.PERPID = U.USERID)

In the above query, Im trying to get the user, instructor id and instructor name from the user table. But Im not able to retrieve the correct results. I have also tried creating an alias name for the user table but still not able to get the complete list. Im getting duplicate records as well. please Advise
