I wanted to make a rounded cornered box in a website design
usually i would have used tables, however this time i went for a tableless layout.

This is wht i attempted so far:

Here is what happens:

I am not able to understand where i am wrong here.

What browser version are we talking about here?

I looked at it in 7 and 8 and looks fine to me.

You might want to try changing your markup from

i will surely try that (i need to go home for that

but i really ponder on how it matters.....

btw on certain occasions, i did find a difference in
rendering of

though they seem the same to me.
