Hi All,

I have a generics collection List<TClass>

The TClass looks something like this
String name, int amount;

I want to retrieve the row in the collection with the maximum amount.

Currently I am doing something like always comparing the max amount in a loop and replacing with the old value with new greater value.

Is there a better approach to get the object of Tclass with the max amount value.

Thanks.

Have a look at the SortedSet interface and its TreeSet implementation (maybe use it instead of your list?). These sets order the inserted elements on the fly, so you can always retrieve the min/max element with a single method call. You can make your TClass comparable (implement the Comparable interface) or provide a Comparator in the TreeSet's constructor.
