Imagine you navigate to a random web page with your browser.

The request type is GET.

What the server returns is a set of Response-Headers that give information to the browser (encoding type, etc.) and the actual response rendered by the browser.

HEAD only retrieves the set of response headers and omits the actual response.

PUT places a file on the server, if it is allowed.

but whats the purpose of a response with only headers and not HTML(the actual response).

PUT places a file on the server, if it is allowed.

i dont get this, could you explain this.

Maybe you want to see if a request works and just retrieve the headers. Whatever use there is, I have never needed the HEAD method

If the server does not impose security restrictions, you can upload a file to the server.

As far as I know there is no direct implementation for CONNECT yet. It's for future implementations, whatever there may come...
