I'd like to use some external Java classes in my server-side code in a GWT application (e.g., classes to retrieve data from a data model). I get errors that "no source code is available" for those classes.

They aren't involved in my serialization - I transfer their data into classes that are under the gwt tree and return those objects from my rpc methods, so I don't see why GWT would need to look inside them - it wouldn't need to translate them into JavaScript.
