Can I apply MatchMode.ANYWHERE to a selected property in criteria search?

I have the following code:
User user = new User();
Example example = Example.create(user);
My understanding is that MatchMode.ANYWHERE applies to both Name and Email properties. How can I make MatchMode.ANYWHERE apply to only one of them, not both?
