You have created a valid directory structure and a valid WAR file for your Java EE web application. Given that:
- ValidApp.war is the name of the WAR file.
- WARdir represents the directory that must exist in every WAR file.
- APPdir represents the directory that must exist in every web application.
Which is true?
A. The actual name of WARdir is NOT predictable.
B. The name of your application is NOT predictable.
C. In this directory structure, APPdir will exist inside WARdir.
D. In this directory structure, the application’s deployment descriptor will reside in the same directory as WARdir.
E. Placing your application in a WAR file provides the option for the container to perform additional runtime checks not otherwise guaranteed.

answer is b

here if WARdir is META-INF, then what is APPdir?is it lib directory of WEB-INF? and also how come deployment descriptor is stored in the same directory as META-INF(WARdir)

I am confused

well it is explained in the book , but still i try to explain what i understood..

A. if Wardir must be inside war file then it must be META-INF, based on this A is false as name of WARdir is predictable
B. the name of the application should be the name of war file but it is not necessary so B is true as name cannot be predicted.

C. Appdir must be in every application, so it must be WEB-INF. so APPdir(WEB-INF) does not reside in WARdir(META_INF). so C is wrong

D. Application DD(web.xml) reside in WEB-INF and WARdir(META-INF) reside in application root. So D is wrong.

E. WAR files provide deploy-time checks but not runtime checks. So E is wrong.

This is what i understood from this.
