Hi,

I passed SCEA part I couple weeks ago and I'm in part II design task now. My project is Dreamcar.

I'm pretty confused about one of use cases. It states following:

Review Open Bids
1. Dreamcar representative searches for open bids and selects one of interest.
2. System responds with all bid requests relating to the selected bid request.

Logically it doesn't make too much sense to me. Dreamcar representative searches for open bids
in step 1 and then in step 2 he operates on bid requests? Is it a typo or what?

Is it possible that I assume that representative searches for open bid requests in step 1 and systems responds
with all supplier bids for selected bid request in step 2?

Could you please shed some light on it?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Cheers,
Maciek

Hello Maciek,

Agree, the description is confusing, but you are right with your assumption. At least, it is the same I did. You should distinguish bid requests and bids. Bid requests represent car parts/items that are made available for bidding to external suppliers through the reverse auction; bid requests are created by Dreamcar representative. While, bids are placed by suppliers on open bid requests.

Hope it helps,
Janis

Hi Janis

Thanks for your reply.

I know about distinction of bid request and bid. To avoid confussion I use names Auction and Bid respectively in my design.

I think there's no other way to go than establishing assumption on the use case. However it still doesn't sound to good to change use case meaning after all .

Would be greate if a senior forum member, or someone who passed part II could comment on it. Anyone?

Cheers,
Maciek

It is one of the implicit tasks of this assignment - to make assumptions and, afterwards, build architecture based on these assumptions. I had around 3-4 pages of the assumptions and one of them was even contradicting with the initials domain model. This is the only way, since you do not have a possibility to elaborate on details with a customer.
