I have used Head First Design Patterns which is easy to read.

Now I'm reading Software Architecture Design Patterns in Java.

In context of SCEA 5, the best books would be Design Patterns [GoF] and Core J2EE Patterns 2nd ed.

Head First Design Patterns is pretty awesome. Then get the J2EE Design Patterns book.

Good night!
The "Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software " (gof) is mentioned in the objects of SCEA. However, I believe it is "heavy" as a first contact with Design Patterns. I wish I had started with "Head First Design Patterns".

Good luck!

I don't recommend HFDF it's not detailed as Design Patterns [GoF] and it doesn't cover all design patterns [GoF].

If you'll read HFDF, I recommend that you should read Design Patterns [GoF] as well.

Yes, HeadFirst Design Patterns are good. GoF is more on C++ patterns
