I would like to know what exactly mean by Persistence. My imperssion was that storing something permanently into Database is called persistence.

Do anyone have more thoughts on this?

Yup, it is storing object into database. Persistent object - the one, that was stored.

We also have the idea of a 'persistent object', where an object has been created on a JVM, but it has its data pulled from the database, it currently has a lock on that data, and any changes to the data in the JVM will then get updated to the persistence store/database. So, you sometimes hear the term 'persistent object' thrown around in ORM talk. But keeping it simple, your definition is correct.
