Lets list out some of the proverbs, which would have moved us a lot positively in our life. To start with:

Winners don't do different things; They do things differently!!

The best way to end an argument is to just avoid it!!

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail

"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy - Benjamin Franklin"
and that moved me to the pub.

Yesterday I saw this at a notice board.

Don't follow a path. Create your own path and leave a trail.

But if everyone did that, wouldn't it lead to massive deforestation?

The quotes are just to read and forget.., I don't follow any quotes, am too lazy to follow whatever I read...

In fact I like this one.

Don't believe anybody, no matter who said, where you read it, not even myself, unless it agrees with your reason and common sense. ---Buddha.

A proverb from the Cree Indians

  • Only after the last tree has been cut down
  • Only after the last river has been poisoned
  • Only after the last fish has been caught
  • Then will you find that money cannot be eaten.

I recited a couple of proverbs and my land lord moved me

    # Only after the last tree has been cut down
    # Only after the last river has been poisoned
    # Only after the last fish has been caught
    # Then will you find that money cannot be eaten.

I personally like a hindi proverb by Abdul_Rahim_Khan-I-Khana

    रहिमन धागा प्रेम का, मत तोड़ो चटके,
    टूटे से फिर न जुड़े, जुड़े गाँठ पड़ जाये.

"Says Rahim, don't allow the (delicate) thread of love (between individuals) to snap. Once it snaps, it cannot be rejoined and if you do rejoin it, there is a knot in it (i.e. it will never be the same again).

Some of the one liners I read on people's tea shirts ... Don't be serious

    - save water, shower together.

    - Staying in bed, Shouting Oh God! Does not constitute going to church.

    - Student + Dying = Studying

A tea shirt? Is that a shirt you put on when you're going to drink tea?

By all means marry. If you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

    ok.
you are practicing to end the argument.Good!.
This way there won't be any remote chance of your wife becoming a philosopher(therefore avoiding to have a living example of wife becoming a philosopher!)

There are no happy husbands. Only husbands who listen, and husbands who pretend to listen.
So the wife is always happy.

This one from Ghandi stuck in my head (I remember it from the film, I hope I'm not butchering it):

Everything we do is insignificant, but it is very important that we do it.

That guy had a million of 'em.
