The SCEA certification is not cheap, as it's got three parts. I wonder how many of you are able to get your company to pay for the certification?

Simple. I'm the company.

Most companies invest in their employees so I think just paying for the certification shouldn't be a problem. It should be related to your work.

I was with IBM, and the didn't. I wasn't in a directly 'Java' related field, and they said it didn't coincide with my career development path, or what they saw as my career development path. I always thought that was short-sighted.

Yes, I think the company should pay for it. As this few hundred dollars shouldn't be a big expense for the company. But when taking out of your own pocket could hurt a bit

Hi Ren,

I'm working for a company that provides IT services.
Having a SCEA in the team is a great "plus" when competing for a project.
That's why generally companies pay for certifications.

In my case, the deal is "I learn alone and the company pay the certification. If I fail, I pay the retake".

how much is it in total, for the 3 parts ?
300 dollars, taxes not included, for part 1
I do not know for the 2 other parts.

In total, it must be around 1000 dollars. Quite expensive indeed.

No one paid, because I took SCEA 5 Beta which was FREE.
