Hi,

I am new to the struts framework. I would like to seek advice as to what version to move forward to. I am planning to write a personal project that uses this framework as practice. Also, which version is much appreciated by companies as of now? You know supposed that I will be adding it up as one of my skills.

Thanks

Hi,

I suggest struts 2 as strtus 2 is far advanced and easy than struts 1.

Hi Castor,

when you are working with any organization, you never know which version clients want to develop his/her application.

If you want to make application for your practice then I would recommend to start to learn Struts 2 . But at least get basics of Struts1 also before start to learn Struts 2 . Struts 2 is to easy compare to Struts 1 in many ways... you get many third party support for Struts 2 and many more...

Also, which version is much appreciated by companies as of now?

The large application which is already developed with Struts 1 might not change to Struts 2 because the cost of new development increase....... So, number of company working on Struts 1 is also lots...... . So don't worry about version ..... The thing matters how much knowledge do you have with any version....

Except the name the both frameworks don't have that much in common. Go with Struts 2, it's much easier than Struts 1.
Regarding which version is more appreciated in companies: have a look at some job-offers what they requiere.
