Hello Charles,

Nice to see you here and was thrilled(like how we used to feel when given a chance to watch first day - first show :-) ) to see the book. I wish you a very best of luck and all success to you.

Regards,
Anil

Thank you - and I can actually write a short reply here since you haven't asked a question - hooray!

Hi Charles. I am happy to see your online presense. Can you please explain, what inspires you to write the book on SCWCD. Thankyou.

Good question. Bear in mind this new edition is the Second Edition, and the First Edition has been around since July 2006. At the time I started writing the book, SCWCD 1.4 was brand new (it was, in fact, in beta), so the inspiration for writing the book was that I was preparing for the exam myself and there were no other materials around. I basically turned my revision notes into a book by adding lots of extra detail. By the time we finished publication however, the SCWCD exam had been around for a couple of years - except there were still only a couple of books for the exam at that time. Then they re-branded the exam as SCWCD 5 (with no content changes) and we re-launched the First Edition to make it clear this book was still suitable. We finally decided to do a Second Edition this year for a number of reasons. The Second Edition brings an improved layout and formatting, errata corrections, some bits on forthcoming new Java EE 6 features, and a generally "fresher" look to the book.
