How to edit registry

I need to write a program to edit a registry value. how would i do this?

Two ideas come to mind...

1. You can use runtime exec() to call the regedit commands to list, add, deleted, change, etc.

2. You can use JNDI, but the windows registry is not a standard service provider. You will need to get it from a third party vendor.
