Hi,

We are using javamail utility to send email from an java (1.4) application to recepients.
In this we have an option of setting the personal name of the sender seperately.

eg.
InternetAddress in = new InternetAddress(impperson.me@abc.com);
InternetAddress.setPersonal("Imp person");

so that when the user receives email, he sees the receiver (From as "Imp Person" in his email box.

Previously when we were using Lotus Notes as client (at receiver end), this worked fine.
However recently we have migrated to Microsoft Outlook 2007 and now it picks up the profile name which is configured in the intranet (uses Active directory).

Is there any way to bypass this so that the name set programatically will be used ?

If I recall correctly, that's what javax.mail.internet.MimeMessage#setSender(javax.mail.Address) is for.

Moving to Other Java APIs as that's where we discuss JavaMail.
